‘Thriller’ is a sort of found still life as I stumbled across it assembled exactly as it’s depicted in the painting. The original can perhaps still be found in the bowels of Turku Castle in Finland where it hopefully continues to enlighten visitors about the dining habits of feudal lords in the 15th century. Chief among the surreal elements in the painting is the mannequin’s striking resemblance to the late Michael Jackson, complete with a single white glove.
